Cerebellar Cortical Dysplasia
A congenital malformation that is defined by abnormal development of the cerebellum. Causes can range from genetic abnormalities to in-utero infection. Concurrent hydrocephalus and hydranencephaly may also occur. It has been reported in several dogs with no breed predilection.
Age of Onset: Less than 3 months of age
Sex Predisposition: Any sex of animal can be affected

Clinical signs may improve or worsen over time

Loss of righting reflexes
Posture and Appearance
Unable to fix gaze
Movement
Excursive head movements
Padding of the thoracic limbs
Difficulty rising
Proprioception
Reduced conscious proprioception

Spontaneous searching nystagmus
Reduced startle reflex
Bilateral ventrolateral strabismus
Behavioral/Mental Awareness
