(Leigh-Like) Subacute Necrotizing Encephalopathy
Subacute necrotizing encephalopathy is a mitochondrial disorder characterized by multifocal cerebrocortical and cerebellar necrosis with vascular proliferation.
Age of Onset: Less than 1 year of age (average 7-11 months)
Sex Predisposition: Any sex of animal can be affected
Clinical Course:
Clinical signs may worsen over time

Behavioral/Mental Awareness
Disorientation
Reduced mental state
Seizures
Posture and Appearance
Progression to lateral recumbency
Movement
Gait abnormalities
Tetraparesis
Ataxia

Central visual deficits
Diminished menace response
Facial hypalgesia
Spinal Reflexes
Brisk patellar reflexes
